This is a very small ,but pleasant space in what is basically a room in a terrace house located in the centre of a very pleasant village. If is delightfully different. The meals are delicious in my opinion and the service friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is very relaxed and informal. The prices are competitive and reasonable. We tend to book a table as capacity is limited, but is not a requirement. It is not elegant, it is as the name suggests just like being in someone’s house and that is part of its charm. The total experience is consistent and I always enjoy my visits.

An absolutely amazing little cafe. Food is cooked freshly and is amazing value for money. It is a very small cafe so fills up very quickly. If considering a visit it may be advisable to ring and book a table or check if there is any tables free. Great for walkers and is dog friendly. Free parking available outside.
What a wonderful little place, had the full English breakfast and it was fantastic, all cooked to perfection and served super quick, will definitely be back again.
I had the most scrumptious dinner at the Country Kitchen Cafe! My mother and I, who are both Americans, went to Cumbria in the UK to visit my sister, who is also an American but lives there now. She and her British husband took us to the Country Kitchen in Dalston, where we had the most divine chicken, roast potatoes, veggies, my very first Yorkshire pudding, and lovely scones with clotted cream and jam. I will never be able to eat an American scone again. Joyce's daughter, Wendy, served us. She did an amazing job! Everything is prepared and cooked right there. She was incredibly accommodating when it came to individual preferences and dietary needs. It was utterly delightful and I hope to come back some day and visit again!
Stopped here for a quick coffee and bite to eat. Very nice sitting in the garden while the sun was out. Service excellent. Reasonable price. Will call again.

What a hidden gem! Great food, lovely staff and dog friendly too. Food was fresh and made to order, great variety on the menu too. Lovely to see so many locals being really well looked after staff.
